The234U/238U activity ratio was measured in dated strata of the Dye-3 Greenland ice-sheet. Values were generally less than unity indicating a source in weathered crustal rock debris. A series of magnetotelluric soundings were carried out in and on both sides of the Dead Sea rift in northern Israel. The more interesting result of this survey is the discovery of a high-conductivity layer within the crust and at a depth of probably less than 15 km. The depth to this layer is shallower than found elsewhere in Israel for the same layer. The high conductivity is not influenced by the presence of the rift and no indication was found for changes in the deep crustal structure across the rift. Information about the characteristics of the resistivity of the sedimentary layer is presented but is less certain. Determination of high-resistivity basement in the rift and the Golan Heights indicates a throw of about 2000 m on the rift eastern fault in this region. 相似文献

The grand abri at La Ferrassie (France) has been a key site for Palaeolithic research since the early part of the 20th century. It became the eponymous site for one variant of Middle Palaeolithic stone tools, and its sequence was used to define stages of the Aurignacian, an early phase of the Upper Palaeolithic. Several Neanderthal remains, including two relatively intact skeletons, make it one of the most important sites for the study of Neanderthal morphology and one of the more important data sets when discussing the Neanderthal treatment of the dead. However, the site has remained essentially undated. Our goal here is to provide a robust chronological framework of the La Ferrassie sequence to be used for broad regional models about human behaviour during the late Middle to Upper Palaeolithic periods. To achieve this goal, we used a combination of modern excavation methods, extensive geoarchaeological analyses, and radiocarbon dating. If we accept that Neanderthals were responsible for the Châtelperronian, then our results suggest an overlap of ca. 1600 years with the newly arrived Homo sapiens found elsewhere in France. 相似文献

在对扬子地台贵州瓮安陡山沱组剖面干酪根碳同住素组成进行分析后发现其变化显示了一定的规律性。碳同住素规律变化反映了最初的沉积信息,特别是有机质埋藏量的变化。获得的陡山沱期沉积岩中碳同位素组成研究结果初步反映了震旦一寒武交变期沉积环境的面貌;碳同位素组成变化规律可以用于反映扬子地台沉积层序和世界同期地层全球碳循环的对比和参考。为扬子区陡山沱期环境变化和生物演化提供了证据。δ^13Cker值在-32.3‰和-24.5‰(PDB)间漂移与δ^13Ccarb值在-4.9‰和3.6‰(PDB)间的变化,反映了当时海水的碳同位素组成。无机和有机碳同位素组成之差的△δorg-carb值沿剖面不断变化,是由于沉积有机质中有促进发酵功能的细菌数量比例变化所致。 相似文献
